Korean Government and India Strengthen Ties with Bilateral Exchange of Notes

The Korean government, through the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), has formalized a Bilateral Exchange of Notes with the Government of India. This historic agreement, signed in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, marks a new era of partnership aimed at advancing sustainable development and mutual growth.

Ambassador Lee Seong-ho highlighted KOICA's commitment to empowering youth with cutting-edge skills. He stated, “KOICA has introduced several programs to educate and upskill the youth, preparing them to meet the evolving demands of Industry 4.0.”

TVET Mechatronics Project: A Flagship Initiative:

One of the standout efforts under this partnership is the TVET Mechatronics Project, developed in collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). This program focuses on equipping students with advanced technical skills to adapt to the rapidly evolving job market.

Ambassador Lee emphasized the importance of leveraging future-ready technology, saying, “By leveraging future-ready technology skills, we aim to enable the youth to thrive in a competitive global environment. Collaborative efforts with academic institutions are critical to building these competencies.”

Strengthening India-Korea Relations:

The agreement signals an expanding partnership between the two nations, reaffirming their dedication to skill enhancement, sustainable development, and technological innovation. The formal signing was conducted by Ambassador Lee Seong-ho and Ms. Manisha Sinha, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Finance.

Growing Educational Exchange:

India and Korea have been fostering a strong educational relationship. Increasing numbers of Korean students are pursuing studies in engineering, social sciences, and humanities in India, while Indian students are drawn to Korea for its advanced technical courses.

The Embassy of India in Seoul noted, “A series of agreements between educational establishments of the two nations are paving the way for joint efforts in science, technology, and research. Beyond academics, various research organizations are also playing a pivotal role in this collaborative journey.”
