The Quality Assurance Agency's (QAA) assessment shows concerns that institutions of the UK are decreasing their academic requirements regarding the admission of foreign students in the foundation courses with low grades.
Approx 34 institutions, over 180 programmes were re-evaluated, which was commissioned by UK universities. Across 2,700 student records and 2,000 pieces of assessment work were examined.
According to the reports of erudera, the result of the review revealed that institutions are maintaining uniform admission standards for both local and foreign students.
As per the assessment, "QAA found that the academic levels of International Foundation Programmes were in line with the expectations of a course at that level in the huge number of cases." According to the report, "International Foundation Programme students had more opportunities under more different conditions to achieve successful progression through, for example, after multiple attempts of assessment test , a student gets the opportunity to be available to A Level/Scottish Higher students.”
