SOAS, London University Announces 3-Year PhD Scholarship in Jaina Studies

The Centre of Jaina Studies at SOAS, London University, is pleased to announce a three-year PhD scholarship in Jaina Studies, commencing in September 2025. This scholarship opportunity is open to applicants from a wide range of disciplines and approaches within Jain Studies, including historical, philosophical, and anthropological perspectives within the study of religions.

The total scholarship amount for the first year, 2025-26, will be £41,652. This amount will cover tuition fees, with the remaining funds provided to the scholar as a stipend. In the following years, the funding will be adjusted to accommodate any increase in tuition fees.

The Bhagavan Mahavira PhD Scholarship is generously supported by Dr. Jasvantbhai Modi, Dr. Meeraben Modi, and their family. They are recognized as the most significant donors to the academic study of Jainism worldwide. Their dedication to promoting Jain and Prakrit Studies is highly commendable and deserving of our respect and admiration.
